BCB/Ramcharitar Construction Service Knockout – Ramdeen and Hetmyer tons steer UDYW to finals

-Foo hits ton in vain for ACC
THANKS to two centuries from Richard Ramdeen and national Under-19 opener Shimron Hetmyer, host Universal DVD Young Warriors (UDYW) stunned Albion Cricket Club (ACC), for whom Jonathan Foo’s century went in vain, to advance to the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Ramcharitar Construction Service first division knockout competition on Saturday.

Playing at the Cumberland ground in Canje, UDYW who won the toss and opted to bat first, scored 335 for 8 from their 50 overs, with Ramdeen contributing 104 (8×6, 1×4) and Hetmyer 101 (9×4, 3×6), on their way to adding 213 for the first wicket.
Skipper Gajanand Singh struck four sixes and the same number of fours in his 59 while Waheid Edwards had three fours in 21, against the bowling of discarded West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo who took 4 for 67 and received support from Sharaz Ramcharran and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai who took two wickets each for 42 and 82 runs respectively.
When ACC batted, Foo struck nine sixes and five fours in his robust 108, but that innings along with Sewnarine Chattergoon’s 51(2×4, 1×6), Andy Mohan 33 (3×4) and Kandasammy Surujnarine 29 (3×4, 1×6) was not enough to guarantee ACC a place in Saturday’s final.
Instead, Balram Samaroo’s 4 for 37 complemented Ramdeen and Hetmyer’s batting to give UDYW the spot in the final in which they will oppose defending champions Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets on Saturday at a venue to be named, following a consultation between the BCB and sponsors.
