Essequibo gets another centenarian

RAMJOHN Mohamed Khan of Aurora, Essequibo, recipient of the Medal of Service, turned 100 years old on August 16. Khan, who has been the Imam of the Aurora masjid for a number of years, and a retired rice farmer, was treated to a celebration on becoming a centenarian.
Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Alli Baksh, himself an Essequibian, took time off from his busy schedule to congratulate Khan on his birth anniversary.
Khan has 13 children, 41 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 57 great-great-grandchildren.
He was bestowed the national award under the Forbes Burnham presidency for his efforts in managing the Co-op Society in Essequibo.
