THE People’s National Congress Reform extends greetings to our Muslim sisters and brothers on the occasion of the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. The Party salutes all members of the Muslim Community in Guyana, and more especially all those who, in the tradition of faithful followers of the Islamic Religion, steadfastly observed the period of fasting and abstinence during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The Party recognizes the importance of this occasion, coming as it does at the end of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic year. The Party made careful note of the fact that Ramadan is the month in which the first verses of the Holy Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). This is a period for inner reflection, devotion to God and self control.
We take from the significance of the festival of Eid, the need to be constructive and purposeful. The PNCR therefore believes that the message of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr can be applied to our national situation.
The PNCR wishes all of the Guyanese people, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters, a Happy Eid, and recommend that its message be internalised so that unity, harmony and progress can be realised in our country.
