‘To Sir with love: A Guyanese Version’ depicts a teacher who returned to Guyana from England to teach a group of unruly students. The challenges that arose mirror those faced today by students in Guyanese schools.
The play gives an in-depth view of a teacher striving to overcome those challenges.
The play is written by Mosa Mathifa Telford and directed by Ron Robinson.
Preparations for the event are ongoing, with daily rehearsals by a highly motivated cast.
Tickets are available at the National Library and at the National Cultural Centre.
The staging of the play is coordinated by The National Library as part of its drive to promote local writers under its theme “Empowering the Nation through Literacy.”
The play hopes to raise awareness of the challenges facing Guyana’s educational system, as well as provide some solutions for those challenges.
