Guyana to host first ever five- day Inter-Guianas Cultural Festival

GUYANA, through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, is set to host Inter-Guianas Cultural Festival from August 20-25, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon announced yesterday during a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President. The festival, which is expected to showcase visual, literary, performing and culinary arts and fashion, was established through a Memorandum of Understanding among the three Guianas – Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname.
The inaugural Inter- Guianas Cultural Festival was held in Paramaribo last year, from August 25 to 29. A 40-member Guyana contingent participated and its presentations were highly appreciated.
The festival aims at fostering closer relations among the countries as well as providing artistes with an opportunity to discuss techniques and to provide the people of the Guianas with the values emerging from various art forms.(GINA)
