DE Bluetoother just remembered that the PNC Congress is this weekend. From what happened over the last few days, it looks like the Congress will be a “slug fest” between the rivals for leadership of the Party; Granger and Greenidge. Much was already said about the show of muscles between these two bitter rivals. The agitation in Linden is believed to be the sum total in the fight to see who has more brawn.
Someone tweeted to the Bluetoother that the Greenidge camp is convinced that Granger is not militant enough and as a result cannot engage in street battles. The presence of Norton in Greenidge’s camp gives credence to this belief.
While the two camps continue to use Linden for their respective political propulsion, the AFC is preparing to hold its Congress very soon. Word is there is bitter jockeying internally as the opportunists vie for leadership position. A little bird whisper that Sase is running for Chairman.
This apparently has angered “stalwarts” like Gerhard and Moses who believe that they should be automatic choices and should not be forced to compete with someone who doesn’t live here!
Moses is of the firm belief that he should be anointed with the Chairmanship especially since he was promised the Vice President position had the AFC won the last election and since Granger thwarted his chances of being Speaker.
Apparently, that’s one of the reasons he has been very silent recently. Some see his outburst about his grandson in Parliament a few weeks ago as a manifestation of the resentment he feels for Sase haven’t learnt around the same time that the Finance Minister hopeful, would contest for the Party leadership.
Gerhard feels that he should be the anointed one and has cited his dedication and ground work in associating with APNU in many protests, as support for his claim. Whatever their claims for anointment, Gerhard and Moses have had serious accusations made out against them by others. In Gerhard’s case, he was accused of profiting from the sale of leases for State lands.
In addition, the Bluetoother learnt that a contract he may have had with a government agency to fix trucks made in Germany was reportedly terminated for not completing the work agreed to and for the poor quality of service he provided. While the AFC may say this is trivial, Gerhard and his Party have taken to the streets calling for transparency and accountability in government, but what about transparency and accountability within the AFC and its members?
From all understanding, the sale of State leases is prohibited and the matter should have been investigated. Clearly, this can only be deemed a scam. The question is, why is the AFC accusing others but cover up similar accusations within its ranks? That in itself is also a scam!
