‘TOP COP’: Seelall Persaud

THE police recruit who was pulled from under the bed of a 13-year-old girl on July 9, is under open arrest and still in training at Felix Austin College of the Guyana Police Force (GPF). Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement), Crime Chief Seelall Persaud, who made the disclosure yesterday, said the case file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and police are awaiting the report before making a pronouncement on the matter.
The trainee was discovered hiding, below the teen’s bed at her Ogle, East Coast Demerara home, by her father at 04:00hrs that day.
When apprehended, the young man claimed he had met the teenager through the social network ‘Facebook’ and was invited to the house, where he was let in unknown to her parents.
He was then placed under close arrest but was, subsequently, released into open arrest to wait until the DPP advises on the course of action to be taken.
When the discovery was made, the girl maintained that he was, indeed, her boyfriend but he denied they were having sexual intercourse and had only been friendly with each other, chatting on Facebook for sometime.
