RHT Pepsi and Albion clash in Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 final

AFTER a prolong delay for several months due to the incessant bad weather experienced in Berbice, the Berbice Cricket Board has decided to fix the final of the Memorex Enterprise-sponsored Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 competition for next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Albion ground. Battling for the championship will be the top two Berbice youth teams in Rose Hall Town Pepsi and Albion Community Centre, who will be at full strength with their national Under-17 cricketers now available after returning home from national duties for Guyana in the recent regional Under-17 tournament in Tobago.
Defending champions Rose Hall Town Pepsi will be spearheaded by their two national Under-17 all-rounders Shailendra Shameer and Arif Chan, both bowling off spin.  They will be backed up by some others with Under-15 Inter-county experience such as off-spinner Daniel Lewis and all-rounders Viendra Gooniah and Devin Baldeo.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Nicholas Cameron and Berbice female off-spinner Phaffiana Millington are also included in the defending champions’ lineup.
Albion, for their part, will depend heavily on their three national Under-17 players in left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie who also represented Guyana at the Under-19 level last year and two off-spinning all-rounders Sharaz Ramcharran and David Latchaya.
The other noteworthy cricketer in the side will be Balchand Baldeo who registered scores of 99 and 100 in his team’s quarter-final and semi-final matches respectively.
Other players to watch are batsmen Tyrone Pooranauth and Devendra Latchman, wicketkeeper-batsman Shivnarine Shirkissoon, leg-spinner Veeren Ramoo and pacer Azam Khan. The umpires identified to officiate are Zaheer Moakan and Roshan Moakan with Augustus Outar as the standby.
Play is scheduled to start at 10:00hrs each day.
