In Region 2… 365 RECEIVE COMPUTERS AS OLPF DISBURSEMENT CONTINUES

THREE hundred and forty-five Essequibo Coast residents, who received their free laptop computers on Tuesday, are loud in praises for the Government. The One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) programme beneficiaries praised the government for the courage and determination to continue the scheme, despite what they called “the heartless cuts” from the National Budget by the Opposition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance for Change (AFC).
The recipients, who were all smiling when they received their gifts, said they are thankful to the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for providing them, in spite of the Opposition trying to stop poor people from owning computers.
The residents said they are happy and feel overjoyed that government has fulfilled its promise to them, overcoming the venomous fight in Parliament to halt the project that was initiated by former President Bharrat Jagdeo.
Sixty-five-years-old, Bibi Zulika Ali was the first person to accept her computer from Chairman of Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Parmanand Persaud, at the Distribution Centre in Pomona Secondary School on Essequibo Coast.

HAPPY
After receiving it, she said she is happy, thanked the government and wished that God will continue to bless the President and Ministers of the Cabinet and they will continue to do the good work to develop the country.
Another beneficiary, Kishore Gobin, of Suddie, said it is a good move by the government to continue the OLPF distribution to poor Guyanese.
Yet another, Taranjanie Doodnauth, of Hybonnia, said she was very excited and happy to receive her laptop computer.
She said she cannot afford to purchase one for her two children and the gift from the government has come at a right time.
Doodnauth, too, expressed her gratitude to the government and declared she is proud that the PPP/C has stepped up to deliver on its pledge to Guyanese, never mind the hopeless APNU and AFC.
She was also thankful to former President Jagdeo and current President Donald Ramotar.
Yesterday, 291 computers were disbursed at Pomona Secondary School and 91 at Abram Zuil Secondary School.
Today, another 106 will be handed over at Queenstown, 279 at Anna Regina Multilateral School, 152 at Bounty Hall (Maranatha Church) and 134 at Charity Secondary School, all on Essequibo Coast, tomorrow.
