West Demerara league leaders Uitvlugt Warriors faced their first defeat in the league, which was also an upset at the hands of Pouderoyen Young Achievers 2 – 0 in the WDFA Stag Beer Senior Football League at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground yesterday. Pouderoyen Young Achievers got their goals from Dexroy Adams in the 34th minute and Sherwin Mc Intyre in the 79th.
The supporting game saw Beavers playing to a terrific 3 – 0 victory over Eagles in an interesting matchup.
Yesterday, also, had games in the EDFA league at the Buxton Community Centre Ground where Plaisance held Buxton Stars to a nil all draw as the featured match had BVTUFC winning 2 – 0 against Buxton United.
Delroy Deane scored his team’s goals in the 11th and 33rd minute.
In the feature, Beavers got their goals from Lloyd Anderson in the 48th minute while Maxwell Trotz doubled in the 53rd and 66th minute respectively.
On Saturday, The opener of the EDFA League saw only one match of the doubleheader being contested, since Golden Stars did not show up for the feature match against Ann’s Grove at the Beterverwagting Community Centre Ground on Saturday.
In the curtain raiser, Victoria Kings battled through a tough 90 minutes with Mahaica Determinators to eventually prevail 1 – 0.
Winston Pompey, the 2011 league’s leading goal scorer converted his chance in the 13th minute to send Victoria Kings in the lead 1 – 0 over Mahaica Determinators. The remainder of the first half was more of a see-saw battle as the sides kept trading shots.
After half time the fans continued to be entertained as both Kings and the Determinators romped for possession.
The sides both sought good football tactics but squandered their goal scoring opportunities having only themselves to blame at regulation.
Meanwhile, the leagues continue on Saturday at the Den Amstel Ground for the WDFA, while action takes place at Beterverwagting Community Centre Ground for the EDFA.
