RECENTLY, President Ramotar visited the Buxton Community and officially opened Tipperary Hall. This is a place that holds great significance to Buxtonians and Guyana on a whole, having had its origin rooted in slavery times. It is a hallowed hall that slipped into disrepair over the years. Hence, former President Jagdeo deemed it best to restore dignity and respect for this national treasure, and built a spanking new edifice.
The sitting president was there to do official duties in Buxton fitted with all the pomp and ceremony befitting a head of state.
Instead of applauding President Ramotar for his good work in Buxton, Dr David Hinds is castigating the President for what he claims is distorting history. This distortion according to Hinds stems from the fact that The President made the remark that “the PPP has a long history of cordial relations with Buxton.”
He took umbrage with the statement because in his estimation the PPP has done very little while at the same time had a hostile relationship with his so-called beloved village. This is furthest from the truth, history is replete with many instances of the PPP having good and friendly relations with the East Coast village, rather, it is the PNC party, to which Hinds now ashamedly pledges his allegiance, that are the ones to be blamed and to whom that statement should be directed. What have they (PNC) done for Buxton? Very little, if any, they have contributed to the upliftment of the village.
Hinds and the PNC used Buxton. Well I should rightfully say used a few misguided souls in Buxton for their own nefarious ends. Nurturing the crime spree, these individuals are known to have visited Buxton giving tangible support to the criminals there. This is the love they have for Buxton to lead them down a path of destruction then discard the people as hopeless when they looked the other way.
Unlike his cabal, the PPP/C has a rich history of lifting people up bringing peace, hope, trust and dignity back, something that is sadly lacking in their camp. David Hinds reminds me of the Grenadian-born US Ambassador who came to Guyana with his misguided Black supremacist ideas. He saw everything Indian and as a consequence everything PPP/C as evil. The same could be said of persons of the likes of a David Hinds, he is mad not so much at the gift but of the giver; according to him Ramotar has no right going into a predominantly Black village. This is his gripe. Well, I have news for Hinds, President Ramotar, who for the record is not Indian; because he bears the DNA of all the known races in Guyana so by “race” and by office he is duly qualified, having every right to perform his duties. Secondly, he is President of Guyana, all of it, so no place within its 83,000 sq mile-radar is considered out of bounds.
But more to this story is the crass idiocy of the complainant. Could he explain for the benefit of the public why he is so worked up over a gift by the PPP/C President, when he should be shameful of the party he now embraces, one who brutally murdered his WPA leader Dr Walter Rodney? Walter adopted Buxton as his home, and for that fact he was persecuted and prosecuted ad infinitum to the point where they killed him.
At least Hinds should show some respect for the dead? Brother Walter would be turning in his grave to know of the goings on amongst his former party comrades. Hinds must dig deep into his moral consciousness and try to erase those glaring anomalies before he ever attempt to cast an accusing finger at the PPP/C. Some people do not have any shame.
