MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamottoo, last Friday, imposed a one year prison sentence on Gladstone Adams after convicting him of burglary at New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice. Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, led the evidence of three witnesses which revealed that, last Old Year’s Night, the convict broke into the dwelling house of Mohammed Salim Yassin and stole $45,000.
Yassin’s neighbour was celebrating her birthday and had hosted a social gathering when she observed movements in his home.
Knowing that he was not there, she ventured out to investigate who was the intruder and confronted Adams, who begged her not to alert the others.
However, the woman made a report and Adams was arrested.
