Rain ruins opening round of inaugural tournament

SCARBOROUGH, Tobago (CMC) – Heavy early morning rain prevented any play in the opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board Under-17 limited overs championship here yesterday. Water-logged conditions forced play to be called off at Shaw Park where hosts Trinidad and Tobago were scheduled to play Leeward Islands.
The Guyana and Windward Islands were down to clash in Louis D’Or while Barbados and Jamaica were set for their duel at Canaan/Bon Accord Recreational Grounds.
Yesterday was a rest day in the tournament and the action will continue today with the second round, once the weather improves.
