Fraudulent conversion of steel plates alleged

GOPAUL Ramnauth (no address given) faced a fraudulent conversion charge before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday. He is charged, indictably, with having, on April 12, been solely entrusted, by Rameshwar Lallbachan, with 120 steel plates valued $2.2M to sell and return the proceeds, he converted 90, worth $2M, to his own use and benefit.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, had no objection to bail, but requested that it be substantial.
Ramnauth was ordered to post $75,000 surety until June 18.
