Westbury residents thank Government for relief from flooding

RESIDENTS of Westbury on Essequibo Coast have expressed thanks to the Government and Regional Administration in Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam) for cleaning a blocked main drain and relieving them from constant flooding. Regional Chairman, Mr. Parmanand Persaud said his Administration, along with the Paradise/Evergreen Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) took quick action to clear the clogged waterway in the area, that is situated West of the Public Road, so flood waters could have drained off quickly.
Villagers said the area, which was always flooded whenever it rains, is now dry.
They said Persaud is a man of actions and they are very pleased with his prompt response to their village and had the drain desilted with an excavator.
Meanwhile, the Administration is using the same machine to clear other drains that will make drainage become effective in the village.
