QUICK action by the Guyana Fire Service yesterday morning saved millions of dollars from going up in flames at the home of former head of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), Lambert Marks. Quick response by three fire tenders saved the 114 PradoVille home from being completely destroyed.
The fire is believed to have started in a bedroom
in the upper flat.
Marks was sitting under a tree outside his home when the Chronicle visited the scene, and he said he was in the lower flat when he saw smoke coming from upstairs. The fire was contained in the room where it started.
Marks said there was nothing plugged in or left on in the upper flat where the fire started, so he is at a loss to know what happened.
