Driver in city fatality of unidentified man released on bail

THE DRIVER involved in the city fatality that claimed the life of an unidentified man on Monday has been placed on substantial cash bail as investigations continue, the police have said. Police reported that at about 18:00 hrs on Monday last, an unidentified male of African ancestry died following a fatal accident at Camp Road and Young Street in Kingston, Georgetown.
He was attempting to cross the road when he was struck down by motor car PPP 152, travelling in a westerly direction under the control of a 19-year-old man of Eccles, East Bank Demerara; who took him to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for medical attention, where he later succumbed to the injuries he had sustained.
The driver has since been released on substantial cash surety, as investigations continue.
