…new kid on the block offers a superior pizza, says Franchise holder
GUYANA continues to see worthwhile investments being made in almost every sector.
Yesterday PIZZA BOYS Group of companies launched its PIZZA BOYS brand at the food court, Diamond Gas Station on the East Bank of Demerara. Chairman of the Nasir Group of Companies, Naeem Nasir, said that his company secured the franchise to operate the pizza brand from the company some time ago. PIZZA BOYS is the same company under which the Rituals Coffee House operates.
In an exclusive interview with the Guyana Chronicle yesterday at the Diamond location,  Nasir explained that getting the Pizza line of the company here in Guyana was not a hard task, as his company already has the franchise to operate the Rituals Coffee House here, which provides a service to outgoing and incoming passengers at the Timehri International Airport. He added that his company was not required to pay any franchise fee for the pizza line, because of the already existing line of service from the chain of companies at the airport.
PIZZA BOYS hopes to employ about 30 persons in the beginning, and this could be doubled once the operation receives favourable responses from customers, according to Nasir.
Asked about the ability of the “new kid on the block” to compete with the already existing two pizza establishments here,  the chairman said that PIZZA BOYS offers a supreme pizza lined with meats that are not offered by the existing companies. According to him, “the new kid on the block” offers a softer crust pizza, and the meat is halaal.
He added that the move to take the operations to the East Bank of Demerara was due to the lack of fast food restaurants in that community.
Nasir told the Chronicle that while there is not much competition on the East Bank of Demerara, he expects stiff competition when he opens another branch of the pizza business in the city in the next three months. Then, he said, the real competition will start and that is something that his company is totally ready for and awaits with excitement.
He explained that the other branch will be located at the bottom flat of the Guyana Post Office Corporation building on Robb Street in Georgetown.  Nasir explained that the local branches of the PIZZA BOYS Group of Companies are mandated to pay royalties to the parent company at a rate of five percent on each sale.
Expressing his optimism about the success of PIZZA BOYS, Nasir told the Guyana Chronicle that since the Rituals has been operating at the country’s main port of entry, the CJIA, it has been recording profits.
