Chandradat Ramdat was placed on a bond for a year after he confessed to assaulting his wife, who was enquiring about a text message. Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo imposed the bond after his wife, of 17 years, Kowsilla , said she was fed up with the constant beatings .
The woman related that the defendant was always in a habit of hitting her,and while she never complained , she believes that she has had enough.
ON April 30 last,an argument erupted in their Sheet Anchor , East Canje home, following a text message on the defendant’s phone. As a result, the defendant kicked and cuffed the complainant who was rescued by her teenage daughter, Sarita, who in turn was assaulted and had to flee to the police station , where ranks were summoned.
Ramdat, who was also remanded for a day, was released on self bail with respect to an assault charge, committed on his daughter.
He is expected to return to the New Amsterdam Court on May 25.
