Gun-toting bandits rob youth of cash, valuables at Enmore

POLICE are investigating the circumstances attending a robbery that occurred on Friday on the railway embankment running along the East Coast Demerara community of Enmore and Foulis. According to usually reliable sources, at around 20:00hrs that night, a group of men armed with knives and a gun approached an unsuspecting young man as he was thorough-faring on the railway embankment that embraces the Enmore/Foulis community.
The bandits assaulted the young man while threatening him with a gun, forcing him to hand over a quantity of cash and valuables. They then took away his bicycle and fled the scene.
Residents believe that the men must have been waylaying the usually desolate railway embankment to pounce on unsuspecting individuals, as was the case on Friday night.
They added that the area is relatively difficult terrain for even the police to effectively man, since it has no lights and is heavily infested with unwanted vegetation and opportune avenues for bandits to escape without much difficulty.
