ACTION in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Super League tournament continues at the Georgetown Football Club ground, where points leaders and defending champions Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United will oppose Den Amstel from 19:00hrs. Alpha, who are currently embroiled in a battle with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) over their expulsion from this year’s Club Championships, are on 16 points from six matches while their opponents for tonight’s fixture are in fifth position with 12 points from seven matches.
Being the only unbeaten team in this year’s tournament, Alpha will be looking to maintain that status against the upstarts Den Amstel, who have only lost one game and may have other ideas tonight, since a win for them will move them to 15 points and into third position.
Meanwhile CBR Mining Milerock and Amelia’s Ward United (AWU) contested a game at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground last night and while the results were unknown up to press time, a win for AWU who went into the game with 15 points from eight matches would see them going to 18 points.
CBR Mining Milerock, on the other hand, have eight points from six games and they are in 7th position and, having lost one of their games by default, where they played an unregistered player in their contest against Den Amstel, will be looking to redeem themselves in the tournament.
The action continues on Saturday at the GFC ground with the second-placed BK International Western Tigers who are on 16 points, taking on Victoria Kings, who occupy cellar position with 2 points, from 18:00hrs.
