IMRAN Neshaw, 25, of Lot 125 Coghlan Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara has been slapped with eight charges, following the death of fish vendor Baldeo Mohan called ‘Painter’, 52, in a road accident. Neshaw appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, West Coast Demerara, on Wednesday, charged with causing death by dangerous driving; dangerous driving; being an unlicensed driver; breach of insurance; failure to stop after an accident; failure to render assistance to an accident victim; failure to report an accident; and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Neshaw pleaded not guilty to all the offences, was refused bail and remanded to prison, pending his next court appearance, at the Wales magistrate’s Court on May 25.
Police Sergeant John, prosecuting, said the victim was discovered dead on the roadside at La Grange, West Bank Demerara, last Saturday morning after a suspected hit-and-run incident.
Representing Imran was attorney-at-law, former Magistrate Fazil Azeez, with whom he presented himself to the police a few days after the occurrence.
