NOEL Mc Calmont, 18, of Lot 54 Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, faced a break and enter and larceny charge yesterday, after police said he was found hiding under a bed in the virtual complainant’s house. He pleaded not guilty before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, to the offence, particulars of which said, on April 17, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Nigel Gentle and stole two gold bands valued at $55,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had secured his home and gone out but, upon his return, discovered the defendant hiding under his bed with the booty in his possession.
The prosecutor said Gentle called the defendant’s mother, who also lives in the same yard, before a report was made to the police.
Mc Calmont was put on $100,000 bail, pending his return on April 30.
