City Constabulary prepares to seize music equipment in Orange Walk

–responding to repeated complaints of noise nuisance
THE City Constabulary department of the Mayor& City Council (M&CC) has pledged to seize the music systems of the small businesses operating along Orange Walk, Bourda, should they
continue to disturb neighbours in that vicinity.
Deputy Chief Constable Trevor Merriman yesterday told this newspaper at City Hall, that as a preliminary measure, constabulary officers were sent to warn those proprietors to lower the volume of their music sets, and not to have their customers block the entrances of residents with their vehicles.
“We had so many complaints from the residents there, who said they can’t sleep at nights; that they are being disturbed all hours, and their young children cannot study for school in peace, because of the noise nuisance,” Merriman explained.
“If they continue to play the music loud, we would have no other alternative but to go there and seize their system, and also put them before the court,” he stressed.
Also present at Merriman’s office was Superintendent Stephen Bailey, who is responsible for the administrative aspect of the City Constabulary department.
