FIFTY-three-year-old George David has been charged with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm. He appeared before New Amsterdam Magistrate Roby Benn on Monday last, and was placed on $15,000 bail for each charge.
David is alleged to have committed the offences against siblings Sherry Ann Denhart, age 20, and Alexis Denhart, age 18, at Lot 20 Public Road, Heathburn Village, East Bank Berbice.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said the defendant’s daughter was involved in a scuffle with Alexis Denhart, whose sibling — Sherry Ann — was attempting to separate the warring parties when the defendant approached, pushed away the latter, resulting in her falling, and punched the other sister to her head and back.
This matter is fixed for trial on June 4.
