BETSY Ground, East Canje cane harvester Compton McPherson accused his wife of infidelity on April 10 last; and in a drunken stupor at their home, armed himself with a beer bottle and inflicted injuries on her face. He appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where he pleaded guilty to the unlawful wounding charge and was fined $30,000, or an alternative of six months’ imprisonment.
Police Inspector Jairam Ramlakhan, prosecuting, said the defendant went home under the influence of alcohol and accused his wife, Juliet, of giving him a child he had not fathered.
