TWENTY-seven-year-old Ron Khan of Canefield Settlement, East Canje, Berbice cuffed his aunt repeatedly in her head after she had rebuked him for smoking in the presence of her school-aged children; and was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment by Reliance, East Canje Magistrate Fabio Azore. Prosecuting Corporal, Roberto Figueira had earlier led evidence of the virtual complainant, Bibi Nafra Khan, who testified that on February 2 last, whilst at her Lot 74 Canefield Settlement home, the defendant, who was in the habit of smoking in the presence of her children, was again warned of the destructive habit and told to desist from so doing in the presence of her offspring; but the rebuke infuriated him and he dealt the woman several cuffs to her head, resulting in her receiving injuries.
