THE Alliance For Change (AFC) has indicated that it will be hosting a public discussion on ‘Understanding and Mastering the National Budget Estimate’. The discussion is slated to commence at 09:00 hrs tomorrow in the Savannah Suite, Pegasus Hotel. The AFC, in a press advisory, said the public discussion is aimed at helping new Members of Parliament and representatives of all interest groups to understand how the national budget was prepared. It will examine the 2012 estimates as presented by Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh and explore methods used to split allocations over various agencies and ministries.
The AFC said it will also delve into the role of the opposition and that of the government in relation to the budget estimates and look at alternative allocations for taxpayers’ money.
Former Auditor General, Anand Goolsarran and Consulting Accountant, Christopher Ram are the presenters. The AFC said participants will be allowed time to question both gentlemen.
