DEXTER ‘De Kid’ Marques signed the contract, to take on Barbados’ Ricardo ‘The Brown Bomber’ Blackman, in the boardroom of Abdool and Abdool Inc. yesterday for another edition of Friday Night Fights on April 27. The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall will be the venue to host the collision of the two boxers in their eight-round Bantamweight match, as the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) punches off its 22nd edition of the ProAm Friday Night Fights.
Marques who is fighting at home is expected to be the superior opponent with his record standing at nine wins and two loss (9-2) against Blackman’s five wins and twelve losses (5-12).
Also fighting on the card will be Guyana’s Mandessa Moses who has been on the scene since 2009 and has a record of seven wins and a loss (7-1).
She will be taking on Tiana Sosa from the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago who is expected to be a formidable opponent in their six-round 130 lb encounter.
Trinidad and Tobago-based Guyanese Iwan Azore who suffered a ninth round TKO at the hands of Simeon ‘Candyman’ Hardy for the WBC/CABOFE welterweight title, will also be making an appearance, taking on Jermaine King in a four-round Catchweight showdown.
The more experienced Azore will be a sure bet for victory with 14 wins under his belt along with five losses and three draws (14-5-3) against King who is yet to taste victory. He has five losses and a draw.
In the opening match of the night, debutant welterweight boxers David Thomas and Anson Green will clash in a four-round matchup, while the amateur segment of the card will be released at a later date.
Admission to the venue is $1 000 for adults and $500 for children and boxing fans are reminded that the card will not be broadcast live on NCN Channel 11.
