Two remanded for possession of cannabis in police raid

RANDY Bharrat and Ann Marie Sudoo (no addresses given) were remanded to prison yesterday on a joint narcotics charge when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the charge of having 55 grammes of cannabis in their possession for the purpose of trafficking on March 23. Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said that police had received information and had gone to a home in Albouystown on the day in question, where, after a search, the alleged cannabis was found in a bag in the kitchen. The two defendants were present at the home, and they were arrested and taken to the police station, where the substance was confirmed to be cannabis; and when weighed in the presence of the defendants, it amounted to 55 grammes.
Bharrat and Sudoo will make another court appearance today.
