NINETEEN-year-old Mechanic Nigel Thomas of Atlantic Ville East Coast Demerara was charged on Friday, March 23, with careless use of a bicycle on Tuesday, March 20, on the Atlantic Ville Public Road; to wit, that he rode a bicycle in a dangerous manner to others using the road, and as a result collided with a pedestrian. Appearing before Sparendaam Magistrate Alex Moore, Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The matter was, however, dismissed after the defendant and the virtual complainant arrived at a settlement among themselves.
Nevertheless, Thomas was cautioned about the seriousness of his actions, and was told that any future occurrence of this offence would be visited by court sanctions.
