THE third annual Stag Beer Affair Dominoes 20/20 Explosion will take place tomorrow from 13:00hrs at the F&H Strikers Sports Club, Meadow Brook, as teams battle for supremacy to dethrone the two-time champions ‘Mix Up’ and cart off the title. Mix Up, the team who have won both titles in the tournament will be looking to make it a hat-trick when they come up with against 40-odd teams that will be vying for the $150 000 top prize and the Stag Beer Affair Trophy.
The tournament’s organising group, Fox and Gittens, set the second place prize in this event at $70 000 while the third-place finisher will have to settle for $50 000.
Some of the teams in the hunt for top honours include: Allstar, NIS, Courts, Ministry of Works, Guyana Legion, Specialist, Sterling Products, GPF, Guy Shipping, Sideline, Next Level, Robb Street Strikers, Stag Beer and Strikers.
A registration fee of $10 000 has been set while Mix Up, because of the team’s two-year reign, is exempt from paying the fee.
Yesterday, Ansa McAl’s Events Manager, Ray Latchman, officially launched the tournament at the F&H Strikers Sports in the presence of the organisers Lyall Gittens and Roderick Harry.
Latchman stated that Ansa McAl is proud to be associated with the event and will support in any way they can. He went on to say that since the first two years proved successful, there was no hesitation to partner for another such hosting.
He ended his brief remarks by urging teams to come out and be a part of the action since it is anticipated to be a thrilling day of dominoes.
Harry responded to Latchman’s comments on behalf of the organising group as he stated that they were very appreciative of Ansa McAl’s support throughout the years.
He went on to say that the tournament will be another memorable one thanks to the sponsors who helped make it  possible and he also looks forward to their continued support.
Some of the co-sponsors are Mambo Mar, Sterling Products, Wild Bunch, TNT and Bonny’s.
Meanwhile, a barbecue will be hosted simultaneously with the event.  Popular sounds, Blue Flame and Supersonic will provide musical entertainment.
