Inter-ward format of Mayor’s Cup kicks off tonight

TONIGHT at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground the Inter-ward format of this year’s Mayor’s Cup will kick off with an exciting double-header and two major companies on board with sponsorship.
Banks DIH Ltd and Digicel Guyana have been the latest of the sponsors in this year’s inter-ward format of the tournament as the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) are still to resolve their differences.
In the opening game Tiger Bay face Uitvlugt and the supporting game pits West Ruimveldt against Stewartville.
The West Demerara invasion of the city will provide an exciting opener since the football tournament this year will involve not clubs but area/ward, giving more players the opportunity to showcase their talent individually and as a team.
The tournament continues tomorrow and with a triple-header commencing at  16.30hrs when Werk–en-Rust will meet Bourda. In the second game Lodge will battle with Kuru Kururu and to conclude the evening’s excitement Kitty will challenge Wales.
On Sunday the weekend action continues with Alberttown and South Sophia going head-to-head and in the second game Charlestown will meet Mocha. After that West Ruimveldt Estate come up against Grove.
Digicel will at halftime of each match be having special promotion for patrons and this will lead to a major drawing of ticket stubs on the night of the final when a lucky spectator will win a special prize.
Banks DIH Ltd will also enhance the tournament with special offers on their products at the games.
Over G$1M in cash prizes and other individual prizes will be won.
