QUICK police response upon being summoned after an armed robbery at Dowding Street, Kitty on Wednesday, resulted in two suspects being arrested and a cell phone taken from a man, being recovered.
Police reported that at about 11:00hrs on March 14, 2012, Andrew Hooper, 26, of Dowding Street, Kitty, Georgetown was in Dowding Street when he was held up by two men on a bicycle, one of whom was armed with a knife.
The men took away Hooper’s cell phone and escaped, but members of a police mobile patrol in the area responded quickly to the report and gave chase behind the perpetrators, who abandoned the bicycle in their bid to evade capture.
They were nevertheless arrested by the police and the cell phone was recovered.
The two suspects are in police custody and will be charged shortly.
