KEON Griffith, of Lot 154 Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on two charges of robbery under arms. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to both offences.
Particulars of one stated that, on March 5, being armed with a gun, he robbed Raymond Ramkishun of things valued $370,000 and, that day, too, at gunpoint, relieved Avinash Armogan of one cell phone worth $11,000 and $5,000.
Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainants were attacked by the defendant, who was in company with another person.
The prosecutor said an alarm was raised and police on mobile patrol apprehended the defendant in a yard while his accomplice escaped.
On the objection of the prosecutor, who cited the prevalence and seriousness of the crime, Griffith was refused bail until March 15.
