TWO men wee remanded to prison yesterday on a joint charge of drug trafficking. Randy Norton, 35, of Lot 4 Rasville, Roxanne Burnham Gardens and Mark Anthony Henry, 25, of Lot 61 Public Road Kitty, both Georgetown addresses, appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson and pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the offence said, on February 22, they had 160 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) to traffick.
Defence counsel, Adrian Thompson claimed the narcotic was not found in the possession of the defendants but in a house occupied by several persons and that constituted a special reason for bail.
However, Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, successfully objected to the grant, stating that special reasons relate to the offence, not the offender.
The prosecutor said police received certain information and went to Norton’s home, where they met the duo and conducted a search that yielded leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant.
The find was weighed and tested in the presence of the defendants and they did not deny the allegation when they were arrested, he said.
Norton and Henry will make their next court appearance on March 7.
