Court overrules objection to bail by Prosecutor
KEON Gransville, of Lot 1 East Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown, was ordered to post $150,000 bail yesterday, on a larceny from the person charge. He was charged, indictably, before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, with the theft of a $65,000 gold chain, from Marcia Williams on February 15.
Police Sergeant Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, had objected to bail, based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence and that the booty was found in the possession of the accused after his arrest by public-spirited citizens.
The Prosecutor said the crime was committed while the virtual complainant was seated in a minibus.
However, the magistrate overruled the prosecutor’s objection and granted Gransville his pre-trial liberty until March 15.
