First Lady interacts with friends, gives schoolchildren gifts
HUIS t’Dieren on the Essequibo Coast was the centre of attraction over the weekend as First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar visited the village where she grew up and treated about 300 children to gifts and meals. In an address to the excited gathering at Huis t’Dieren Primary School on Sunday, she said she was happy to return there and be in the school she attended and worked as a teacher for several years.
She encouraged the pupils to study hard, set goals in life and work towards them. The First Lady also conveyed greetings to the children and their parents from President Donald Ramotar, as she mingled with them and shared their joy and excitement while sharing food and presents.
The schoolchildren of the Huis t’Dieren Primary entertained the First Lady with songs and poems while the New Opportunity Corps Steelband provided music on the occasion.
Mrs. Ramotar also talked with residents and old friends in the community.
Among others present were Director of Food for the Poor (Guyana) Incorporated, Mr. Leon Davis, and government officials.
