Attempted murder victim in serious condition, accused remanded

WAZIM Pereira, 19, of Lot 111 North Sophia, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on an attempted murder charge. Before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, he was charged, indictably, with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Badhur Lear, on February 15, with intent to kill him.
The accused told the court he is a grass cutter and asked to explain what transpired but the magistrate advised him that he can do so at a later stage of the case.
Police Sergeant, Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail, based on the seriousness of the offence and reported that the wounded man is still hospitalised in a serious condition.
Pereira has to make his next appearance on March 9.
