Amelia’s Ward beat Bakewell Buxton Stars to qualify

AMELIA’S Ward Football Club have qualified as Group A winners in the Guyana Football Federation National Super League preliminary playoff with a 3-0 win over Bakewell Buxton Stars at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground on Sunday evening. Oscar Adams opened the home side’s account scoring in the 36th minute to take his team into the lead at the end of the first half.
On resumption eight minutes later Darwin Luke netted in the 53rd minute taking the score to 2-0 as the ward side sat comfortably against the Buxtonians.
Paul Trotman converted thirty minutes later (84th minute) sending the score line to 3-0 where it remained until the end of regulation time.
The fixtures will continue on Sunday with two remaining matches in Group B at Beterverwagting Community Centre ground, where the undefeated Den Amstel will face Grove HI Tech and at Blairmont Community Centre ground, New Amsterdam United will be looking to revive their fortunes when they meet the Mill Ballers.
Both matches will commence at 15:00hrs.
At present, Den Amstel have a goal difference of +2 after scoring 5 goals and conceding 3 with 2 wins.
Grove Hi Tech have a difference of +3 scoring 7 goals and conceding 4 with 1 win
NA United have a difference of +1 scoring 5 goals and conceding 4 with 1 win.
