… K&S Organisation donates footballs
“IT IS easy to become a champion, but it is harder to maintain the status as a champion since challenges will be strong and you have to be well prepared. Preparation is what I was taught at the just concluded coaching course for teachers in the upcoming tournament and that is what I have commenced today”. These were the words of Ms Jennifer Langevine, sports teacher and coach of the Tucville Secondary School, who are the defending champions of the inaugural Guyana Sports Foundation/Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy football tournament.
The champs hosted a one-day Inter-class male and female football tournament at the Tucville ground yesterday, to prepare and select the representative teams to participate in this year’s Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy tournament which will commence on March 3 at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex ground.
Thirty-one teams registered to participate in yesterday’s activity which saw the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation make a timely donation of a few footballs for the tournament.
General Secretary of K&S, Colin Aaron, said that the donation was a well-kept secret towards the upcoming tournament. When he learnt of the activity he responded with the donation.
This, he assured, would go a far way in developing the sport in the school and urged the students to strive for the top, be disciplined and work hard to achieve their goals, both academically and also in sports.
Aaron presented the balls to the Principal of the school, Carol Nedd, who was caught by surprise and was at a loss for words, when asked to respond, but found expressed heartfelt thanks, before the tournament got under way.
Students, who participated in the referees training course which was held recently under the guidance of the Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy, are being used as officials for the tournament.
