IGG volleyball preparation programmes well on stream

THE Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) have commenced preparation for this year’s Inter- Guiana Games volleyball male and female teams under the respective coaches and technical staff. The Guysuco Apprenticeship Training Centre at Port Mourant and the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue are the two venues being used for the sessions which are being done thrice weekly and on weekends.
The National Gymnasium, with its renewed Tara Flex Synthetic Floor, is the likely venue to host matches in this year’s IGG Volleyball tournament, giving Guyana an added home advantage, since they would have undergone several training sessions there.
Chronicle Sport got a comment from president of the GVF, Lennox Shuffler, who indicated that former national players and others as well as coaches Levi Nedd and Trevor Smith, with assistance from Mr Rowe, are taking the teams through their paces.
According to Shuffler, both teams are working hard on their techniques and tactical aspect of the game and added that there will be a few international and local tournaments leading up to the November activity, providing the teams with sufficient practice in preparation for the tournament.
