REGAL Stationery and Computer Centre yesterday became the third business entity in Corporate Guyana to make a contribution to former national Under-19 off-spinner and Kaieteur News sports journalist Sean Devers, who was diagnosed with Glioma early last month. According to the 42-year-old Devers, a sum of US$100 000 (G$20M) is needed for him to undergo the surgery and with the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association and the embattled Guyana Cricket Board being the first two to make contributions to this worthy cause, Regal Stationery became number three.
In an invited comment prior to the presentation of the cheque, Managing Director of Regal Stationery, Anil Hardyal, said he learnt of Devers’ illness through the press and having rubbed shoulders with him at the Under-16 at Malteenoes Sports Club, thought it best to make a contribution.
Devers will be leaving for neighbouring Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow for further treatment and exuded confidence ahead of his trip, saying “I know I will come back healthier and feeling much better than how I left, since it would be amiss of me to let all the contributions that are coming my way, go to waste.”
