SURINAMESE law enforcement authorities yesterday handed their local counterparts the fugitive Sohan Busjit, 23, who fled the local jurisdiction after the murder of fireman Delon Collins on Christmas Eve Day 2011, and he is in police custody pending investigations. This is according to Crime Chief, Seelall Persaud, who disclosed that the GPF had issued a wanted bulletin for Busjit on January 9, 2012, which stated that he was wanted for questioning in relation to robbery and murder committed on Delon Collins on Christmas Eve Day last year. Busjit’s address was given as Limlair Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Collins and his 29-year-old fiancée, Probation and Welfare Officer Nadine Crawford, 32, together with her three children, had just returned from shopping in Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice when, upon entering Crawford’s yard at Alness, Corentyne, they were confronted by four armed men., who shot Collins in his chest.
When he collapsed, one of the bandits stripped him of the cash he had in his pocket, whilst his fiancée was relieved of her personal jewellery.
