India is seventh most industrialised nation

INDIA is to be applauded for celebrating its 62nd anniversary since breaking all ties with England and becoming a Republic. India attained independence on August 15, 1947, and became a republic on 26th January 1950. On the occasion, India showcased her military might in Delhi on Thursday.  Republic Day is usually celebrated with much enthusiasm. There was a massive celebration in Delhi with the P.M of Thailand as the Chief Guest.  In addition, there was a countrywide celebration on Republic day but the glitz glamour of it were on public display in the capital with a parade of the armed forces.
There were processions and ceremonies and the hoisting of the tricolour flag at various locations. The celebrations started with the Presidential address to the nation at the Red Fort early in the morning followed by the national parade of the troops and display of military equipment and fighter jets. And this was followed by a reception at the President’s home.
The parade through a main thoroughfare of Delhi displayed India’s military power and the cultural traditions of different groups. There was an endless procession of regiments, bands, cavalry, antiquated artillery tanks and modern missiles, interspersed with schoolchildren. The parade was followed by a pageant of spectacular displays from the different states of the country.
Every part of the country was represented on the occasion, which made the Republic Day the most popular of all the national holidays of India. The President distributed medals of bravery to the people from the armed forces for their exceptional courage as well as to civilians, who distinguished themselves by their different acts of valour and achievements in humanity, arts and sciences.  Congratulations India on your 63rd republic day.
It was a fantastic display projecting military prowess and scientific achievements, all of which have redounded to the benefit of the world. The wealthy nations have been recruiting Indian scientists and engineers to fuel their industries and the poor countries look forward to India’s technical assistance and financial aid for their industrialisation.
For the last twenty years, India has been rising economically becoming the envy of the world. Almost all the leaders of the leading industrialized nations visited India over the last two years looking to cement economic relations. And India’s economic achievements make the Third World proud because as India rises she commits greater assistance to poor countries donating a larger percentage of her GNP than the wealthy countries.
After obtaining independence, India has remained among a few third world countries that never became a dictatorship unlike many other counterparts such as Guyana, Fiji, and most African countries.  And she has made the most strides developmentally.
Since becoming a Republic, India has made great strides as a nation – becoming the seventh most industrialised nation in the world.  For the last 10 years, it has been growing some 8% annually just behind China.  It has been trying to build its military might to protect its border  and expanding her forays into space And it has been sharing her wealth and technology with the less developed countries (including Guyana, those in the Caribbean and Africa).
Today, many countries seek the assistance of India. Guyana, for example, is one of the largest recipients of aid from India which is among the largest donors of aid to other poor countries.  Last year, India committed to building a specialty hospital in Guyana and to man it with specialists from India. Thank you India for all of your help to poor countries and may you continue to prosper to provide us with greater amounts of aid.
