MY name is Latchminia Basdeo, and I am responding to a letter that was written by Mr. Abdool Fazal Gafoor dated 12/01/12 on page 7 of the Chronicle. Mr Gafoor sold his property located on 22 Bel Air Village to me in 2001. The agreement was prepared by an agent who now resides overseas and I am unable to locate him. The Sales Agreement states that the property is sold to Latchminia Basdeo for seven million dollars, three and a half million of which was paid upfront to Mr Abdool Fazal Gafoor.
The remaining three and a half million will be paid at the transfer of the transport in about two weeks time, according to the Agreement which was made in 2001.
During the two weeks I have not heard from, or seen Mr. Gafoor. I made many attempts to locate Mr. Gafoor but could not.
Mr. Gafoor had agreed at that time that I can occupy the land and it has been about 10 years since. Several months ago, around November 2011, I received a phone call that Mr. Gafoor is trying to locate me, and I responded by agreeing to meet with him.
I have not heard from him until I saw this letter in the Chronicle pertaining to me. I am willing to pay Mr. Gafoor the remaining $3.5M to complete the sale and acquire my transport.
I wish to state that I have not breached any contract and am always available to Mr. Gafoor whenever he is ready to transfer the transport with the agreed amount. Mr. Gafoor has breached this contract and needs to correct his mistake.
I stand ready to honour my obligation
