Diplomats taken on orientation tour of hinterland

THE newly accredited diplomatic representatives of the United States (U.S.), Brazil, Canada, United Kingdom and the Deputy Head of the European Union (EU) were taken on an orientation tour of Guyana’s hinterland last Monday. It was conducted by Major General (ret’d) Joe Singh and navigated by Roraima Airways Captain Gerry Gouveia.
The diplomats departed Ogle International Airport at 08:00hrs and flew a low-level route over Linden, Omai, Iwokrama, Karasabai and the prospective oil drilling site in the North Rupununi before landing at the beautiful Karanambo  Ranch.
A tour of the ranch followed and then a briefing on the scientific studies and work being done by graduate students from the U.S., who were stationed there for the past week.
The team then flew over to Annai village where they visited the Bena Hill Field Station prior to returning to Rock View Resort for a delightful lunch.
Visiting the magnificent Kaieteur Falls was the highlight of the trip that brought the party back to Georgetown, en route to where they  were afforded an aerial view of the city and, finally, landing at Ogle airport at 17:45hrs.
