Teenager electrocuted whilst washing motorcycle
A 17-year-old Cotton Field Secondary School student on the Essequibo Coast was electrocuted at his home in the Anna Regina Housing Scheme at around 16:00 hrs on Monday afternoon. Reports are that Lawrence Samaroo was washing his motorcycle when he encountered an exposed 220-volt switch in the bottom flat of his two-storey house. He was allegedly inserting a plug into the switch when he was electrocuted.
His mother, Mrs Sharon Samaroo, said she was at a nearby shop when she received the tragic news. Upon rushing home, she found her son lying unconscious in a chair.
Lawrence was immediately rushed to the Suddie Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are investigating the incident.
