A FATHER who admitted beating his three-year-old son with a pot spoon was remanded to prison pending sentence, yesterday. Cecino Becker (no address given) pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy, Nickel Becker, to cause him actual bodily harm.
The prisoner, 23, claimed the child was in the habit of begging.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, before whom Becker appeared charged with the   December 29 offence, was told by Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, that the boy begged his sister and the father became annoyed and lashed him with a pot spoon several times on his buttocks.
The father said he gave the child porridge to drink and he threw it away and went to his sister who was having cereals.
The magistrate ordered a probation report on the case and postponed sentencing to January 16.
