Bettencourt’s TGI Grill and Lounge opens to take food tourism to the next level

BETTENCOURT’S T.G.I Grill and Lounge at Lot 62 Brickdam, Stabroek, Georgetown was formally opened for business on Thursday last.

Food tourism will be promoted in four projects by two business partners, John Reman and Dillion Bradford.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Thursday night, John Reman said the business, started 45 years ago by a single parent mother of 14 who did what she knows best – cooking, has been in his family for three generations.

The pioneering woman, Beverly Ann Blair, expanded the business to Bartica, Berbice and Georgetown, serving patrons quality, tasty and wholesome foods.
Reman added that the business was eventually taken over by his mother, who then passed it over to him; and with his business partner Dillion Bradford and the support of his family, friends, customers and others, the Bettencourt’s TGI Grill and Lounge will roll out four projects in 2012.

Reman told the gathering that they will launch a weekly magazine called Guyana Spice, a television show entitled “Bettencourt’s Kitchen”, the introduction of a line of rubs and spices for meats named “Secret Spices and Rub”, and a website, Food Digest, all to enlighten Guyanese of the finer style of dining; fine foods, fruits and vegetables; what’s happening in hotels and restaurants; culinary arts; and what to eat and what not to eat as it relates to diseases such as diabetes. This would be done with the aim of living up to their motto: “Preserving tradition from generation to generation”.
The ceremony was also blessed by Pastor Timothy King, who spoke of the successes as well as the challenges and work of the two business partners, Bradford and Reman.
